About me

My name is Tamara and originally I’m from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. However, for the past years I have been travelling and living abroad most of the time. Honestly that didn’t take anyone by surprise, since I’ve studied tourism management.
Things I love are hiking, diving, animals, camping, good food and reading. And yoga of course! Scroll down to read more about me and yoga.

Tamara & YOGA

My journey into yoga began in Amsterdam at 18 years old, driven by a desire to find relief from scoliosis. Over time, yoga became my sanctuary, bringing both mental clarity and physical harmony into my life. Throughout my travels I kept practicing yoga, which resulted in practicing in amazing places, Rishikesh in India being the highlight.

Throughout the years I have practiced a lot of different styles but it all started with hatha yoga. Later on I also practiced ashtanga, yin, iyengar, vinyasa and restorative yoga. Another part of yoga that I really enjoy practicing is bhakti yoga – mantra chanting.

Inspired by the transformations I’ve experienced, I wanted to share the gift of yoga with others. That is why in february 2023 I completed my yoga teacher training at Gayatri Yoga School Tenerife. To deepen my knowledge I have also completed additional trainings in yin, vinyasa sequencing and restorative yoga. Ever since I’ve been blessed to guide many people on the beautiful path of yoga as a Yoga Alliance Certified 250-hour yoga teacher, focussing on teaching the styles of yoga that I feel most connected to: hatha, vinyasa and yin.

What I teach

From energizing vinyasa flows and well-aligned hatha practices to soothing yin sessions, I’ve got you covered. Dive into mindfulness with me through meditation, pranayama and mantra chanting. See you on the mat!

Hatha Yoga

In my traditional hatha yoga classes, we prioritize alignment, ensuring each posture is performed with precision and safety. I emphasize the journey into and out of each pose, guiding students to explore their edges mindfully. We linger in poses to fully experience their benefits, fostering strength, flexibility, and inner awareness.

Vinyasa Yoga

In my vinyasa classes, we use the breath to flow smoothly between poses, boosting energy and building strength and flexibility. We keep it fun by trying out different movements and enjoying the freedom to express ourselves.

Yin Yoga

In yin yoga we focus on deep stretches held for several minutes. Through this gentle approach, we target connective tissues, improving flexibility and releasing tension for a relaxed body and mind.

Meditation

In my classes I include meditation where we explore various techniques to calm the mind and cultivate inner peace. Together, we practice mindfulness, visualization, and relaxation methods to promote clarity, focus, and emotional well-being.

Pranayama

In my classes I include pranayama, diving into the art of breath control. We explore different breathing techniques to enhance vitality, reduce stress, and foster a deeper mind-body connection, promoting overall well-being and inner balance

Mantra chanting

In my classes I include mantra chanting, tapping into the power of sacred sounds. Together, we vocalize ancient mantras to uplift the spirit, calm the mind, and cultivate positive energy, fostering a sense of harmony and inner resonance.
